Reptiles Alive! Animated Floor Projections

About the Project

Reptiles Alive!: Animated Floor Projections

Reptiles Alive! is an interactive exhibition at the Field Museum that introduces visitors to live reptiles from desert, forest, and tropical habitats. Designed for audiences of all ages, with a special focus on kids, the exhibit combines scientific education with immersive design to spark wonder about reptiles and their ecosystems.

I collaborated with illustrator Laetitia Auguste to design and produce a series of animated floor projections that complemented the live animal displays. My work focused on translating static illustrations into dynamic, habitat-specific animations that transformed the floor into a living environment filled with snakes, lizards, and other reptilian creatures.

The animated projections extended the boundaries of each habitat, encouraging visitors to step into the world of reptiles in an interactive way. Families and children especially engaged with the floor projections, often “following” or “playing” with the reptiles as they moved across the space. This layer of interactivity enhanced both the educational and emotional impact of the exhibit, making the science more approachable and memorable.
