After the Age of Dinosaurs: New Giants Projection Mapping Gallery

 About the Project

After the Age of Dinosaurs: New Giants Projection Mapping Gallery

The New Giants section of the After the Age of Dinosaurs gallery called for an immersive experience that could convey the arrival of massive mammals, birds, and the Titanoboa snake after the extinction of dinosaurs. The challenge was to capture not only their scale and presence but also the atmosphere of a world reshaped by new dominant species.

I created the projection mapping for the installation, using Jay Ryan’s bold large-scale illustrations, which were projection-mapped onto custom cutouts of mammals, birds, and Titanoboa. To deepen the sensory impact, I collaborated with composer Jesse Solomon Clark to design a soundscape that layered deep melodies and resonant tones to evoke the weight and power of these emerging giants. Together, the visuals and audio worked in harmony to turn scientific storytelling into a living, breathing environment.

The installation transports visitors into a vivid post-dinosaur landscape, where towering new creatures feel both present and alive. The combination of projection mapping and soundscape immerses audiences in the scale and drama of Earth’s evolutionary shift, making the gallery a memorable and multi-sensory highlight of the exhibition.
