Africa Fashion

About the Project

Africa Fashion

As Lead Media Producer, I was responsible for shaping the audiovisual experience of Africa Fashion, a traveling exhibition from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The exhibition celebrated the breadth of African fashion—past and present—highlighting designers and styles that range from traditional formalwear to contemporary street fashion.

Process
I curated and produced a suite of video and music installations designed to animate the garments and stories on display. Working closely with the exhibition designer and media integration team, I oversaw the seamless incorporation of multimedia throughout the galleries. This process included:

  • Selecting video content that contextualized designers’ work within broader cultural narratives.

  • Designing soundscapes inspired by Afrobeat, jazz, and regional traditions to create a vibrant, immersive atmosphere.

  • Coordinating technical installation to align media elements with the exhibition’s architectural and lighting design.

The result was an environment that mirrored the energy and dynamism of African fashion itself—layered, bold, and expressive. The audiovisual elements extended beyond mere background, functioning as active storytelling devices that deepened visitors’ connection to the garments and the cultures they represent.

Through these contributions, Africa Fashion offered audiences an experience that was as much about sound and motion as it was about fabric and form, highlighting fashion as a living cultural force shaping identity across Africa and the global diaspora.
