Apsáalooke Women and Warriors Traditional Beadwork

About the Project

Apsáalooke Women and Warriors: Beadwork Video Installation

For the Apsáalooke Women and Warriors exhibition, I produced and edited a video featuring Elias Jade Not Afraid demonstrating traditional beadwork techniques. The goal was to create a piece that not only documented the artistry but also highlighted the cultural significance of beadwork within Apsáalooke traditions.

The video was presented as a large-scale projection within the gallery, paired with a tactile element for visitors. Directly beneath the projection, the actual beadwork featured in the film was displayed as a touchable object, allowing audiences to connect visually and physically with the craftsmanship.

This integration of moving image and touchable artifact deepened visitor engagement, bridging storytelling, material culture, and lived tradition in a multisensory experience.
