Reptiles Alive! Soundscapes

Reptiles Alive! Exhibition — Soundscape Design
Collaboration with Composer Josh Beck

For the Reptiles Alive! exhibit, I collaborated with composer Josh Beck to design and produce a series of soundscapes that brought reptile habitats to life. Our goal was to create an immersive auditory environment that enhanced the visitor experience across diverse ecosystems—including desert, forest, tropical, and coastal settings.

Each soundscape blended original musical compositions with carefully curated sound effects, such as the calls of native birds, the rattle of snakes, and even the chirps of baby alligators. These layered elements worked together to deepen the sense of place, transporting visitors into the natural worlds of the reptiles on display.

My role involved shaping the creative direction of the soundscapes, balancing musical and environmental elements to align with the exhibit’s storytelling. The result was a multi-sensory experience that not only engaged visitors but also supported the exhibit’s educational mission by reinforcing the authenticity of each habitat.
